Since 1993 Cloud 9 has hosted the Siargao International Surfing Cup, most recently as a qualifying-level event. This year the break is on the main stage: the Philippines Pro presented by the Philippine Sports Commission is Stop No. 11 of the 2026 World Surf League Championship Tour, the top tier of professional surfing, and the first Championship Tour event ever held in the country. The competition window runs from October 31 to November 10, 2026, and the WSL calls each day on or off by the swell.

The full heat sheet is on the WSL’s Philippines Pro results page.
How to watch the Philippines Pro
Every heat streams live and free on WorldSurfLeague.com and the WSL app. Cloud 9 is on Philippine time, so heats start early in the morning, and the WSL posts each day’s call before the first heat.
In person, the Cloud 9 boardwalk and the beach beside it are where crowds have watched the surfing cup for years. No official spectator advisory for this event, covering boardwalk access, fees or traffic in General Luna, had been published as of November 1. Check the General Luna municipal page before you go, and expect part of the boardwalk to be kept for surfers and officials.
Going to Siargao this week
This is the busiest week Cloud 9 has had, so rooms close to the break go first. Our where to stay in Siargao guide breaks General Luna, Catangnan and the quieter north down by distance to Cloud 9. For flights and ferries, see how to get to Siargao, and for the rest of the island, the Siargao travel guide.
From surfing cup to Championship Tour
Competitive surfing at Cloud 9 began in 1993 with the Siargao Surfing Classic, started by former General Luna mayor Jaime Rusillon, according to Philstar (October 3, 2019). It became the Siargao International Surfing Cup and ran as a WSL qualifying event, a QS 5000 in 2024 and a QS 6000 in 2025, when Bronson Meydi of Indonesia and Ziggy Mackenzie of Australia won (SPIN.ph, October 31, 2025). Meydi is back in this year’s draw. The Cloud 9 tower, built in 2003 and destroyed by Typhoon Odette in 2021, was rebuilt by the Philippine Sports Commission and the General Luna government and blessed for this event, Philstar reported on October 30.
