The rooftop pool at The Pad Co-Living in Cebu lit blue at night, with steps at one end and the lit towers and steel structures of the Banilad skyline behind

Sunset Soirees, Cebu City: it is on top of a co-living block, and the sunset actually lands on it

A pizza at ₱360 and a tenderloin at ₱1,399 on the same board, a pool nobody will tell you the rules for, and a deck that genuinely faces the sunset. Two visits, prices read off the card at the table.

The lift smells like a condominium, because it is one. You press for the roof past floors of studio units, and you spend the ride adjusting your expectations downward, because nothing about the ground floor of a co-living block on Gov. M. Cuenco suggests the doors are about to open on a timber pergola, a bar in white stone with orange stools, and a pool going cobalt at the far end.

Does a place called Sunset Soirees actually get the sunset?

Fair question, and one that a lot of rooftops in this city would rather you did not ask. Plenty of them are named for a view they face the wrong way for.

This one is honest. The frames on this page carry their compass bearing in the file, and the open end of the deck reads west-northwest. From Cebu, the sun goes down between west-southwest in December and west-northwest in June, so it drops into that open side all year: further to your left in the cool months, further to your right around the middle of the year. Sit at the pool end, face the towers, and it happens in front of you.

Which is the actual reason to come at five rather than at eight. The deck has two completely different personalities and most people only ever see the second one.

What it costs, so you can pick your evening before you go

This is the useful part, because a rooftop can go either way on you. Some of them there is nothing under a thousand pesos and you find that out after you have parked.

Here the board runs from a ₱360 pizza to a ₱1,399 tenderloin, which means the same deck works for a cheap Tuesday and for the dinner where you are trying to impress somebody. A margherita and a local beer is ₱469. Two grills with sides and a bottle of wine is closer to ₱4,000. Same table, same sunset.

Printed dine-in prices photographed 13 August 2024. Two years old, so read them as a floor. The pizzas above the margherita are all ₱550, the crispy pata is ₱999, and grills come with a side and a salad.

The thing to know about the grills is that they arrive with a side and a salad included, which the four hundred peso pastas do not. Two people ordering one grill and one pasta will feel the difference in what lands on the table.

No cocktail price is printed on that card and none is published anywhere else, which is the one real gap. Wine is ₱325 a glass, craft beer ₱349, imported ₱199.

The pool, and the question nobody will answer

There is a pool on the same deck. It is the best thing up here after dark, a long cobalt rectangle with the towers standing behind it.

Whether you can get in it is genuinely unclear. The building marketed the concept as dip and dine, which is a slogan rather than a rule, and no published source states the actual policy. Guests describe it as adults only. Nobody says whether a walk-in who is there for dinner counts.

So do not turn up in swim shorts with a barkada assuming it is part of the deal. Ask when you book. It is one phone call and it is the difference between an afternoon and an embarrassment.

Go on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday

Every article about this place says it shuts at 10 PM. That figure is the launch schedule from August 2024, and four sites published it within a day of each other, three of them on the same day. It has been sitting on page one ever since.

Live listing data now shows the week split: Sunday to Wednesday to 10 PM, Thursday to Saturday opening at 5:30 PM and running to midnight. Checked September 2026. So if you want the deck for a proper night rather than a quick dinner, go at the end of the week, and call first either way, because two different phone numbers are also in circulation and one of them is stale.

One more thing worth knowing before you plan around it. The delivery listing for the restaurant has gone and now redirects to a generic city page, so ordering in may no longer be an option. The deck itself is fine: guests staying in the building were eating and drinking up there through July and August 2026.

Going

  • Where. Roof deck of The Pad Co-Living, Banilad High Street, on Gov. M. Cuenco Avenue. Look for the co-living building, not for a restaurant. There is no shopfront and no sign at street level.
  • If a listing says Talamban, that is the jeepney direction, not the address. Take a 13C or 62B heading that way and get down at The Pad. The building is on the highway side and it is a good few kilometers short of Talamban proper.
  • Coordinates. 10.3268° N, 123.9087° E, read off the EXIF of the frames on this page.
  • Hours. Sunday to Wednesday to 10 PM. Thursday to Saturday from 5:30 PM to around midnight. Call to confirm. Checked September 2026.
  • Arrive. Before six if you want the sunset, which is the whole point of the name.
  • Budget. Under ₱500 a head for pizza and a beer. Around ₱2,000 a head if you order a grill and drink wine.
  • Group size. The deck holds about 120 and it takes kids and pets.

If you are eating on this stretch anyway, 7107 at 88th Avenue is about a hundred and fifty meters up the same avenue and equally invisible from the road.

Questions people actually ask

How much is Sunset Soirees?

Off the board photographed in August 2024: pizzas ₱360 to ₱550, pastas ₱390, grills ₱495 to ₱1,399, sides ₱60 to ₱175, local beer ₱109, wine ₱325 a glass. A pizza and a beer comes to ₱469. Those figures are two years old and should be treated as a floor.

Can you actually see the sunset from Sunset Soirees?

Yes. The open end of the deck faces west-northwest, and from Cebu the sun sets between west-southwest and west-northwest through the year, so it goes down on that side whatever the month. Get there before six.

Can you swim at Sunset Soirees?

Not settled. There is a pool on the deck, it is described as adults only, and no published source says whether a walk-in diner can use it or whether it is for residents. Ask when you book.

What time does Sunset Soirees close?

The 10 PM figure on most pages is the August 2024 launch schedule. Current listing data shows Thursday to Saturday running to around midnight, with a 5:30 PM open on those days. Call before a late booking.

Where exactly is Sunset Soirees?

On the roof of The Pad Co-Living in the Banilad High Street development, on Gov. M. Cuenco Avenue in Cebu City. It is a residential building, so go in and take the lift up rather than looking for a restaurant entrance.

Is Sunset Soirees still open in 2026?

Yes. Guests were eating there in July and August 2026. Its delivery listing has gone, so ordering in may no longer be possible.
