Chika-an at The Outlets @MEZ2 reopens: the same Cebuano table in a bolder room
Wednesday 26 November 2025, reopening day. The first 50 diners got dessert on the house, and lunch came out as tamarind chicken soup, grilled tuna jaw and lechon kawali.
Suroy.ph attended the reopening as a guest of Chika-an Cebuano Kitchen. Prices are from the printed menu on the day.
Chika-an Cebuano Kitchen at The Outlets @MEZ2 Estate closed for renovation after 29 September 2025 and reopened on Wednesday 26 November 2025. The cooking stayed Cebuano home food: sour soups, grilled fish, crackling pork and sets built to feed a whole table. The room is what changed.

What changed in the room
Before the renovation the room had blue booths, round blue stools and patterned tile floors. Now it has woven rope chairs, pale wood tables, an orange booth along the glass and the name lit in white across the back wall. The tall windows face straight onto the covered walkway, so a table by the glass watches the mall go by.

What to order at Chika-an
These are the dishes Chika-an put forward as its bestsellers on reopening day, and the ones that came to the table.
- Sinampalukang manok. Chicken in tamarind broth with the leaves still in it. The sour kick is the point.
- Grilled tuna panga. The jaw, charred at the edges, served on banana leaf.
- Lechon kawali. Crisp skin, tender meat, sliced, with pickled papaya on the side.
- Rellenong manok. Stuffed chicken, the other bestseller on their list.
- Biko with bukayo. Sticky rice cake under dark syrup, topped with a nest of sweet coconut strips.
- To drink: ube keso, salted caramel, and citrus cucumber. They are the purple, brown and green glasses in every photo from the day.
