Cebu Pacific Travel Fund Rule From November 10: The Owner Has to Fly Too

From 11:00 AM on 10 November, a Cebu Pacific Travel Fund pays only for bookings its owner flies on. What still works, and what to book by Monday night.

From 11:00 AM Philippine time on Tuesday 10 November 2026, a Cebu Pacific Travel Fund can only pay for a booking its owner is flying on. Bookings made before then are not affected. Rules checked against the Cebu Pacific Help Center on 7 November 2026.

Nothing about a Cebu Pacific Travel Fund expires on Tuesday. The balance stays, it still never runs out, and it still pays for flights and add-ons. What ends at 11:00 AM on 10 November is the use most families have for it: one person’s fund buying seats for relatives who fly without them.

From that hour, the owner of the fund has to be one of the passengers on any booking it pays for. A parent can still put the whole family on one itinerary, as long as the parent is on it too. A fund holder working abroad can no longer use it to fly a lola from Manila to Cebu on her own.

That leaves this weekend and Monday. Cebu Pacific says the change comes from a regular review of its products and services, to strengthen how fund ownership and use are managed. It has given no other reason.

What changes at 11:00 AM on 10 November

The Help Center notice, Update on Travel Fund Redemption, sets the start at 11:00 AM Philippine time on Tuesday 10 November 2026. From then, the Travel Fund owner must be listed as a passenger on any booking or itinerary paid with the fund. The rule covers every fund, including balances people already hold.

Bookings made before 10 November are not affected. A flight booked for a relative this weekend stays booked, and that relative still flies on it after Tuesday.

Cebu Pacific’s own pages put the deadline a few hours apart. The redemption notice gives 11:00 AM on the 10th. The CEB Flexi and Travel Fund page says booking for friends and family who travel without the owner works until 9 November. Plan on Monday night. The Tuesday morning hours are a margin, not a window.

Add-ons change too. From 10 November, paying for baggage, seats or other extras with the fund on a booking the owner is not on may be restricted. Cebu Pacific has not published which add-ons still qualify.

Who counts as the owner

It depends on where the fund sits.

If the fund is in a MyCebuPacific account, the owner is the name registered on that account. One account, one owner, whoever was on the flight that created the money.

If the fund sits in a booking reference instead, the code from the original trip, the owner is any of the original passengers on that booking. A family of four whose flight was canceled has four possible owners, and the fund stays usable as long as one of them flies.

That second case is the one to check this weekend. A fund left in a booking reference after a disrupted flight can be added to an account, but only when the email or a name on the booking matches the account details.

What still works after Tuesday

  • The fund does not expire, old and new balances alike.
  • Family and friends can still fly on a fund booking, on the same booking as the owner.
  • The fund can be split among the guests in that booking, through a Live Agent in the app or website chat.
  • A balance that falls short of the fare can be topped up with another payment method.
  • Add-ons stay payable with the fund when the owner is on the booking.

What to do before Monday night

  1. Check the balance. Log in to MyCebuPacific and open My Account. The transaction history is on the website only, under My Account, then Travel Fund. The app does not show it.
  2. Book every trip the owner will not be on. Relatives flying alone, a student going back to school, a parent going home for Christmas. Bookings made now are honored after the change.
  3. Buy the add-ons for those trips at the same time. Bags and seats on a booking the owner is not on may be blocked from Tuesday.
  4. Move a stray fund into an account. If the balance is sitting in an old booking reference, add that booking to MyCebuPacific so it shows where it can be spent.
  5. Call the agency if the original trip was booked through one. Agency booking references may not redeem a Travel Fund, so the agency has to handle it.
  6. Leave time for a split. Spreading one fund across several guests is done only through a Live Agent, not in the normal booking flow.
Travel Fund · After 11:00 AM, 10 November
Can the fund pay for this booking?
Yes, before and after Tuesday.
The owner is on the booking, so the fund can pay for everyone on it. Splitting the fund across the guests in that booking is done through a Live Agent in the app or website chat.
Nothing to do before the deadline.
Not after 11:00 AM on 10 November.
The owner has to be a passenger on any booking the fund pays for. Cebu Pacific’s Travel Fund page gives 9 November as the last day to book for people flying without the owner.
Book these trips by Monday night. Bookings made before the change stay valid, and the relatives still fly on them after Tuesday.
Maybe not, from 10 November.
Paying for add-ons with the fund on a booking the owner is not on may be restricted. Cebu Pacific has not said which add-ons still qualify.
Buy the bags and seats for those trips now, in the same session as the booking.
Yes, if one of the original passengers flies.
When a fund sits in a booking reference rather than an account, the owner is any of the original passengers on that booking.
Add that booking to MyCebuPacific so the balance shows up. The email or a name on the booking has to match the account.
Not through the agency reference.
Booking references created by travel agencies may not be used to redeem a Travel Fund, before or after the change.
Contact the agency that made the original booking, and do it early, because the agency has to act before Monday night too.

Where a Travel Fund comes from

Cebu Pacific creates a fund in three situations: a CEB Flexi booking canceled up to two hours before departure, a flight the airline canceled or moved by an hour or more where the passenger chose the fund, and a booking hit by a passenger’s or an immediate family member’s serious illness or death.

The fund takes the fare, taxes, unused add-ons and admin and handling fees. It does not take the Philippine travel tax or CEB TravelSure insurance, which are refunded separately, or the cost of CEB Flexi itself. The balance appears in the account or booking reference within 24 hours. The travel tax refund runs on its own rules, set out in our travel tax and terminal fees guide.

Every fund created from now on falls under the new rule. On a canceled flight where a cash refund is on offer, that changes the math: a refund can pay for anyone’s ticket, and a fund now pays only for trips the owner takes. Flights canceled around the ASEAN Summit from 14 to 18 November are the nearest test, and the affected Manila and Cebu flights are in our ASEAN Summit cancellations list.

Before you book

The first use sets the currency. A fund’s currency locks on its first Travel Fund transaction and cannot be changed afterward.

It is not cash. A Travel Fund cannot be exchanged or converted to money, before or after the change.

The add-on rule is unfinished. “May be restricted” is the airline’s wording, and no list of eligible add-ons has been published. Buying extras before Tuesday removes the question.
