Sinulog 2027 in Cebu: Parade Route, Schedule and Where to Watch
Sinulog 2027 falls on Sunday, January 17, 2027. The Grand Parade starts and ends at the Cebu City Sports Center and loops about six kilometers through P. del Rosario Street, Imus Road, General Maxilom Avenue, Fuente Osmeña Circle and Osmeña Boulevard. Watching from the curb is free. The ritual showdowns that decide the contest happen inside the Sports Center, where seats are sold.
Sinulog Sunday is the last day of Fiesta Señor, the eleven-day feast of the Santo Niño at the Basilica, which runs January 7 to 17, 2027. The parade is the party; the Basilica is the reason for it.

The full 2027 program has not been published. The 2026 program is the best guide to the shape of the week: nightly cultural shows at Fuente Osmeña Circle and Plaza Independencia, the Festival Queen coronation and the dance crew showdown at the Sports Center on the Friday, the religious processions on the Saturday and the parade on the Sunday.
Sinulog parade route
The 2026 route, per the Sinulog Foundation’s traffic advisory: out of the Cebu City Sports Center onto P. del Rosario Street, north on Imus Road, left onto General Maxilom Avenue, through Fuente Osmeña Circle, south on Osmeña Boulevard, right onto R. Landon Extension and back into the Sports Center. In 2026 the parade kicked off at 9:15 AM, after a morning Mass at the Sports Center, and finished before 8 PM, the first time it ever wrapped that early.

4:00 AM · Basilica
Mañanita Mass at the Basilica del Santo Niño. Road closures around the parade route start at the same hour.

6:00 AM · Basilica
The Pontifical Fiesta Day Mass, the main Mass of the feast.
Tip. The plaza is full well before six. Plaza Independencia, a short walk away, ran a Devotee City all weekend in 2026.
Morning · Sports Center
A concelebrated Mass inside the Cebu City Sports Center, where the parade starts and ends.
Tip. Grandstand seats are sold in advance and fill early.
9:15 AM · P. del Rosario
Kickoff. Contingents leave the Sports Center along P. del Rosario Street, then turn north on Imus Road.
Tip. The first hour is the freshest: dancers have not yet done six kilometers in the heat.
Midday · General Maxilom
The long stretch on General Maxilom Avenue toward Fuente Osmeña Circle. Free to watch from the curb.
Tip. The best free viewing on the route. Shade is scarce; bring water in a plastic bottle and a hat.
Afternoon · Fuente Circle
Around Fuente Osmeña Circle and south down Osmeña Boulevard, then R. Landon Extension back to the Sports Center.
Tip. The circle is the most crowded point. Pick a spot and stay; moving through it costs an hour.
Before 8 PM · Sports Center
Ritual showdowns inside the Sports Center, then the finale. In 2026 the parade wrapped before 8 PM for the first time.
Tip. Only the grandstand sees the full choreographed showdown with props. On the street you see the dance in motion, not the staged finish.

Where to watch the Sinulog grand parade
- The Sports Center grandstand. The only seat for the full ritual showdown, with backdrops and props. The main stadium seats about 8,000. Tickets go on sale through the organizers; 2027 prices have not been announced.
- General Maxilom Avenue. The long, free curbside stretch. Dancers have room to perform here, and the crowd is a little thinner than at the circle.
- Fuente Osmeña Circle. The center of the city’s Sinulog week and the most crowded point on the route. Arrive early, pick a spot and stay.
- Osmeña Boulevard. Thousands lined it in 2026. Good for catching contingents on the way back to the finale.
What a curbside view does not give you is the finish. The contingents perform their full choreographed showdown only inside the Sports Center; on the street the dance is in motion and in pieces. Many people watch the morning on the route and the evening on a screen.
Fiesta Señor: the religious side
Sinulog grew out of the devotion to the Santo Niño, and the Basilica keeps its own calendar inside the festival. In 2026 that meant a 4:00 AM Walk with Jesus from Fuente Osmeña to the Basilica on opening day, nine days of novena Masses, a dawn Walk with Mary followed by the Traslacion of the image of the Virgin to Mandaue, a fluvial procession on the Saturday, a 1:00 PM solemn foot procession and the Visperas Mass, then the 4:00 AM Mañanita and the 6:00 AM Pontifical Mass on Sinulog Sunday. Expect the 2027 program to land on the same days of the week, with the Saturday processions on January 16.

What Sinulog is
The name comes from the Cebuano sulog, a water current. The dance moves forward and back to the drums, the way water does, and it is danced to and for the Santo Niño: the image of the Child Jesus that Magellan’s expedition presented in 1521 to the wife of Rajah Humabon, baptized Juana. The image is kept at the Basilica.
The parade itself is younger than most people assume. The first Sinulog parade was held on January 20, 1980, organized by David Odilao, then regional director of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development. It is now held every third Sunday of January, and in 2026 the city estimated about 5.2 million people on the streets.
Getting around on Sinulog Sunday
- Walk. In 2026 road closures around the route began at 4:00 AM. Anywhere near Fuente, Osmeña Boulevard or the Sports Center, walking beats every vehicle.
- Stay close. A room within walking distance of Fuente Osmeña saves the day. Rooms near downtown go first, months ahead.
- Colon Street stayed open to private vehicles in 2026, which is useful for getting around the downtown side.

The honest part: it is hot, it is crowded, and it is long. In 2026 the city recorded 152 minor injuries by 6 PM, mostly exhaustion and heat. Carry water in a plastic bottle, wear a hat, keep your phone in a front pocket, and agree on a meeting point before anyone loses signal, because phones do.
